With the iPhone 16, Skynet has arrived at Apple HQ

The annual iPhone event in Apple Park took place earlier this month, with the team finally lifting the lid on the iPhone 16 series. As good as the iPhone 15 range is, there’s definitely still room for improvement. Apple has absolutely nailed some aspects of the iPhone, yet it still falls behind Android competition in other areas, especially when it comes to AI features. So, understandably, many people are excited for the next iteration of the iPhone, which will soon be available to buy. If that includes you, here’s everything you need to know about it. When will the iPhone 16 be released? Apple launched the next iPhone on 9 September 2024 at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park. The new phones were revealed alongside the Apple Watch Series 10 and new AirPods. Pre-orders are live now, ahead of all four phones hitting shelves on Friday 20 September 2024. If you’re interested in buying one, see our where to pre-order guide for all the options in the UK and US. How much does the iPhone 16 cost? Here are the launch prices for the iPhone 16 range: iPhone 16 (128GB) – $799/£799  iPhone 16 Plus (128GB) – $899/£899 iPhone 16 Pro (128GB) – $999/£999 iPhone 16 Pro Max (256GB) – $1,199/£1,199 These are the same prices as the previous iPhone 15 range – leaker yeux1122 on South Korean platform Naver suggests that the titanium frame on the iPhone 16 models was cheaper to produce, which could be why there’s been no major price increases. The phones will be available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and storage sizes, with the usual 1TB option for the Pro variants. What specs and features does the iPhone 16 have? Apple is going big on AI this generation, with supporting software enhancements for its photo editing, productivity tools and voice assistant. Other headline features include major changes to the camera button, more unique colours and bigger battery lives. There are four smartphones to choose from in the iPhone 16 series – here’s the lowdown: Design Let’s start with the regular iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. These phones come in a choice of five colours: White, Black, Ultramarine, Teal and Pink – the last three are new additions. These are made from Aerospace Aluminium and have IP68 water resistance and dust resistance, the same protection seen on the Pro phones. iPhone 16 design and new colorsApple iPhone 16 design and new colorsApple Apple As predicted in leaks, Apple has opted for a vertical camera arrangement set into a pill-shaped bump for the 16 and 16 Plus iPhones. This design pays homage to previous iPhone models, notably the iPhone X, which also featured a pill-shaped camera design with a slim module. Although the iPhone 12 also employed a vertical camera setup, it had a broader square bump to accommodate the flash and microphone. This camera bump incorporates two distinctive camera rings for the wide and ultrawide lenses, without altering the position of the flash or the camera lenses in this latest iteration. The Capture Button is now new pressure-sensitive, and has been rebranded to ‘Camera Control’. As well as opening and snapping shots, users can slide their finger along the button to control the zoom, focus and more. Plus, a long press of this button will now record video. The mute button has now been replaced with the Action Button, which was previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro range and not on the regular models. This can turn the phone to silent, open apps, activate the torch and more. iPhone 16 Pro colors: back, white, natural, desert gold iPhone 16 Pro colors: back, white, natural, desert goldApple iPhone 16 Pro colors: back, white, natural, desert goldApple Apple Speaking of which, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max have also had some design tweaks. As well as the usual Black Titanium, White Titanium and Natural Titanium finishes, there’s a new bronze colour, called Desert Titanium. The textured glass back of the phone has a slightly softer tone than that on the chassis. The camera module trio shape remains the same as the previous iteration, and the Pro models also support the new Camera Control features. These phones also have the thinnest border of any product from Apple, according to the keynote. The Pro and Pro Max are made from Grade 5 Titanium, which should be more resistant to scratches. Here are the dimensions for each phone: iPhone 16 – 147.6 x 71.6 x 7.8mm, 170g iPhone 16 Plus – 160.9 x 77.8 x 7.8mm, 199g iPhone 16 Pro – 149.6 x 71.5 x 8.25mm, 199g iPhone 16 Pro Max – 163 x 77.6 x 8.25mm, 227g Display There are no size changes for the regular iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, with these devices retaining the same dimensions as their predecessor – 6.1-inches for the regular and 6.7-inches for the Plus, with resolutions of 2556 x 1179 and 2769 x 1290 respectively at 460 ppi. However, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max feature larger, OLED Super Retina XDR displays. The iPhone 16 Pro sports a display measuring 6.3-inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max boasts a 6.9-inch display. This is the largest of any display on an iPhone so far. The iPhone 16 Pro has a resolution of 2622 x 1206, while the Pro Max has a 2868 x 1320 panel, both at 460 ppi. All phones can reach up to 2,000 nits peak brightness. The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max also have the thinnest screen bezels ever seen on an Apple device. Exact dimensions were not confirmed, but Chinese leaker (via GSMArena) and Ice Universe reported 1.2mm on the iPhone 16 Pro and 1.15mm on the Pro Max. For comparison, the current iPhone 15 Pro’s bezels are 1.71mm and iPhone 15 Pro Max’s are 1.55mm. These advancements make the iPhone 16 range closer to a truly ‘bezel-less’ design. All panels in the range have Ceramic Shield protection, which Apple claims is twice as durable as glass. There were however no mentions of new panel technologies, so it’s assumed these are the same as the ones on the iPhone 15 range. The Pro phones will have an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate for gaming. iPhone 16 Pro display iPhone 16 Pro displayApple iPhone 16 Pro displayApple Apple There was speculation that Apple will move its Face ID sensors under the display, but this wasn’t confirmed during the keynote – 9to5Mac suggests this won’t happen until after 2026. There’s also no indication that Apple will follow the lead of many Android phones and introduce an under-display fingerprint sensor. Performance When Apple introduced the new 3nm processor for the iPhone 15 Pro models, it also changed the name of the chip, from the A17 Bionic to the A17 Pro. The new name indicated that this was a special version of the chip for the Pro models, leading us to assume that the iPhone 16 would get a stripped-down version of the chip called the A17 Bionic. However, Apple surprised us by confirming that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus would instead get the A18, while the Pro range would get the A18 Pro. iPhone 16 Camera Control iPhone 16 Camera ControlApple iPhone 16 Camera ControlApple Apple The A18 has a 16-core neural engine, which is designed for all the upcoming AI features on the smartphone. There’s a 6-core CPU which is 30 percent faster than the A16 Bionic (the chip in iPhone 15), and a 5-core GPU for improved graphics – useful for gamers. Meanwhile, the A18 Pro will make the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max 15 percent faster than the previous generation equivalents, with a 6-core GPU and a 6-core CPU with 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. Cameras Apple has included a new 48Mp ultrawide lens on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max – a substantial improvement over the previous 12Mp. Like the 48Mp main, it will probably use pixel binning (where four pixels are combined into one) for 12Mp images by default. This has a ƒ/2.2 aperture and 120° field of view. Both iPhone 15 Pro models will get upgraded 12Mp telephoto cameras offering 5x optical zoom, with up to 25x digital zoom. Meanwhile, the main 48Mp camera seems to have the same specs as its predecessor, only with the rebranded ‘Fusion’ name, meaning that the telephoto capabilities can be used with the main camera. Iphone 16 Pro Max kameror Iphone 16 Pro Max kamerorMacworld Iphone 16 Pro Max kamerorMacworld Macworld The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will feature two vertically aligned cameras, including a 48Mp primary camera with 2x telephoto zoom and an improved 12Mp ultrawide lens with autofocus, as well as an ƒ/2.2 aperture, enhancing low-light performance. These non-Pro models will also support macro photography for the first time. The new vertical design on the regular models also allows them to support spatial videos. The Pro models will support 4K video at 120fps with Dolby Vision and provide users with further control over sound with the Audio Mix feature to alter the different levels of background noise. iphone 16 camera 1 iphone 16 camera 1Apple iphone 16 camera 1Apple Apple As mentioned, all iPhone 16 models include the new pressure-sensitive Camera Control, inspired by Sony, which uses trackpad-like gestures for zooming and other functions. Apple also mentioned that background object removal will be coming for editing, similar to Google’s Magic Eraser. Battery & charging The iPhone 16 models offer higher prolonged lifespans – in fact, Apple claims that the iPhone 16 Pro Max has the best battery life of any iPhone, period. Apple has not disclosed the battery sizes at the time of writing, but it states on its website that the iPhone 16 can last up to 18 hours of streaming playback, while the Plus can withstand 24 hours. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro can stream video for up to 22 hours, while the Pro Max can last a whopping 29 hours of Netflix and chill. Software For all the software announcements from Apple’s WWDC event, have a look at our iOS 18 round-up. The most anticipated feature is access to Apple Intelligence. However, the new phones will initially lack Apple’s AI feature, which will arrive a month later via a software update in the US. UK users will have to wait until December for the new features. The AI software is kept private and secure by being run through Private Cloud Compute, meaning users can use many features that are on-device and not shared via the Cloud – though some actions will still use Apple servers. Apple also committed to this security being independently verified by experts regularly. Apple Intelligence writing tools Apple Intelligence writing toolsYouTube / Apple Apple Intelligence writing toolsYouTube / Apple YouTube / Apple Apple Intelligence features include brief suggested replies in Messages and Mail, a Reduce Interruptions Focus mode that selectively allows urgent notifications and a Safari Reader Mode that summarises web pages. Writing Tools offer professional or friendly text adjustments and proofreading, while another feature records and transcribes calls. Improvements to Siri include the voice assistant being able to process false starts in language, and allowing users the option to use Siri via text rather than through the microphone. Users can generate their own emojis, and see improved search functions in their photo and video libraries. The camera can also be used like Google Lens, so users can get information on something by taking a photo. Apple Intelligence positions Apple against competitors like Google Gemini, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Microsoft’s Copilot. Of course, the usual safety features will be integrated into these phones – including Emergency SOS via satellite, Crash Detection and Roadside Assistance via satellite. Connectivity Apple transitioned to USB-C technology starting with the iPhone 15 lineup, and that’s continuing on the iPhone 16 models. Although Apple has been developing its in-house 5G modem chips, they aren’t ready for 2024 phones. However, the iPhone 16 range will feature Wi-Fi 7 technology. iPhone 16 Pro iPhone 16 ProApple iPhone 16 ProApple Apple Apple’s AR/VR headset, the Vision Pro, is now on sale. We’re expecting the company to do its best to integrate it seamlessly into the ecosystem, and the iPhone 16 series will probably be a gateway for this. iPhone 16 Ultra One of the more interesting rumours that was circulating even around the iPhone 15 launch was the possibility of yet another model, called the iPhone 15 (or now 16) Ultra. However, this smartphone has still failed to materialise. It is supposed to be even more expensive than the current lineup, but in exchange, customers would get a slew of upgrades. It’s been speculated to feature an upgraded, faster variant of any chip we’ve seen before (presumably with more GPU cores), a bigger screen, and possibly even a portless design. That’s all the information we have about iPhone 16. In the meantime, be sure to read about the upcoming iPhone SE 4 and check out the best iPhones you can buy right now...

Best budget robot vacuums

Best budget robot vacuums

If you’ve never tried a robot vacuum, or if you’re ready to upgrade your current model, you can now get a great range of features without spending a fortune. There will be some compromises to be made but you can expect to get both vacuuming and mopping, good navigation and accurate mapping, and an auto-empty stand that’ll give you 30-90 days of hands-free cleaning, depending on the model. In some cases, the recommended models below are slightly older robots that have come down in price since their launch. In other cases, they’re new, with the latest feature sets. In all cases, we’ve taken them home and tested them ourselves. All the robot vacuums featured in this chart have mopping capabilities, but we’d caution that they’re much more suited to giving a floor a gentle glow-up than a thorough clean. You can see robot vacuums with much more advanced mopping capabilities in our round-up of the best robot vacuums overall that we’ve tested. Why you should trust us: Tech Advisor has been testing technology for almost 30 years and we specialise in providing buying advice. We’ve reviewed dozens of robot vacuums over the years from many key brands. All our in-house team and freelance contributors have specialist knowledge and are trained in rigorously testing devices. Our full reviews accompanying every robot vac in the following chart will give you all the details you need to find the right one for you. Plus, you’ll be able to see the pros and cons of each model at a glance. 1. EZVIZ RE5 Plus – 90 days of hands-free cleaning EZVIZ RE5 Plus - 90 days of hands-free cleaning EZVIZ RE5 Plus - 90 days of hands-free cleaning Pros Compact base 4,000Pa suction 4-litre dust bag should last for 3 months Cons No base drainage or refill Mop pad requires manual washing This is a newer model, with good navigation and strong suction. It can distinguish between hard flooring and carpets, and when it reaches a carpet it’ll ramp up the suction for a more thorough clean. We found its mapping to be accurate, and you’ll be able to make maps for different floors or areas of your home and customise cleaning. It comes with an auto-empty dock, which means you can set a cleaning schedule and forget about it – for up to 3 months. It mops as well, but you’ll need to fill the onboard tank and fit the mop pad by hand, as well as wash the mop pad afterwards. Read our full EZVIZ RE5 Plus review 2. DreameBot D10 Plus – Excellent feature set DreameBot D10 Plus - Excellent feature set DreameBot D10 Plus - Excellent feature set DreameBot D10 Plus - Excellent feature set Pros Real-time smart tracking Auto-empty Voice notifications Strong suction Cons Large charging dock App download required Water-only mopping Best Prices Today: $399.99 at Amazon This robot vacuum has powerful suction (4,000Pa), carpet detection, and if you have a mix of flooring, chunky rugs or raised thresholds, it can cope well with a bit of climbing. It has some features you won’t find on every model either, such as voice notifications: the D10 Plus will let you know what it’s doing as it’s doing it. The mapping is detailed and accurate and will allow you to vac, mop, or simultaneously vac and mop individual rooms, rooms in a particular sequence, the entire area, or a specific zone in a room.  You can also customise suction and mopping settings for different rooms. You’ll get 45 days of cleaning before you need to empty the charging base, but the base is larger than many featured in this round-up, so you’ll need to find room for it. 3. Eufy X8 Pro – Best for pet owners Eufy X8 Pro - Best for pet owners Eufy X8 Pro - Best for pet owners Eufy X8 Pro - Best for pet owners Pros Well priced Good all-rounder Solid feature set Cons Needs to avoid carpet after mopping Mop pads must be added and removed by hand Not good at spotting cables Best Prices Today: $399.99 at Amazon This is an older model that’s come down in price and it’s a good option for pet owners, with strong (4,000Pa) twin-turbine suction and an anti-tangle roller brush – although we think you’ll still need to remove some hair by hand. We found its laser navigation to be solid, except that it struggled to spot low objects and, while it would carefully stop short of taller obstacles, it ploughed into low pet bowls. Mapping was accurate: you can merge and section off rooms, and set custom cleaning settings for each room, choosing the water level (when mopping), suction power, and whether it cleans the room once or twice. The auto-empty base is compact but holds a 2.5l antibacterial dust bag, which will allow you up to a month and a half of cleaning before you need to change it. Mopping isn’t quite as hands-off. You’ll need to fill the onboard tank and fit the mop, but you can then specify mopping levels for each room. One thing to note is that it will leave a slightly damp trail behind after mopping, so you might want to specify carpeted areas as no-go zones. Read our full Eufy X8 Pro review 4. Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8+ – High-quality mapping Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8+ - High-quality mapping Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8+ - High-quality mapping Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8+ - High-quality mapping Pros No need to empty each time Great mapping and cleaning options Automatic carpet detection Cons The dock takes up space The robot's climbing is poor Mopping is gentle This is another slightly older model that you can now get for less. As with many similar models, the compromise is less advanced mopping features. The N8+ has impressive suction, decent mopping and a brilliant mapping system that’ll allow you to set up sophisticated cleaning schedules, with no-go areas marked up. Its carpet auto-detection means it’ll automatically ramp up the power when it encounters a rug or carpet, saving power for when it needs it. On the minus side, the N8+ isn’t the best climber and got itself stuck more often than many of the robot vacs we test. Read our full Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8+ review 5. Proscenic X1 – Solid all-rounder Proscenic X1 - Solid all-rounder Proscenic X1 - Solid all-rounder Proscenic X1 - Solid all-rounder Pros Accurate mapping Mop function Cleans most types of mess well Cons App is confusing and muddled User experience not especially polished Needs to be supervised while cleaning The Proscenic X1 vacuums, mops and has an auto-empty dock. The X1 also has carpet detection and will boost power to the vacuum when needed. You can make and store up to five maps and set room-by-room cleaning schedules. It has a shorter battery life than many models, however, at around 30 minutes. It’s not the best climbing robot, and got stuck a few times during our testing. We also found the app connection to be a little buggy at times, and the app features some poor translation, but the X1 comes with a remote which you can use in place of the app if you prefer. I’m an Entertainment Editor – these are the 5 TV shows getting me through autumn

I’m an Entertainment Editor – these are the 5 TV shows getting me through autumn

For the first time in a while, I’ve been reaching for my jumpers when I’m leaving the house. For me, that means autumn is officially here – equinox be damned.   While my weekly walks in the cool weather for pumpkin spice lattes are at the top of my wish list (basic, I know) one of my other favourite things about fall is that it’s the best season for TV.   Not only do we see the arrival of annual favourites, but there’s an excuse to get cosy in front of the small screen with a blanket and candle. If you’re stuck on what to watch this season, I’ve got you covered for all types of moods. I’ve even linked the places they’re available in the UK and US. You’re welcome.   For mindless cosy fun: Gilmore Girls  I’ve had so many repeated trips to Central Perk and Springfield that I’ve somehow neglected Stars Hallow. After multiple recommendations, I started my first watch-through of Gilmore Girls last autumn… but with 153 episodes available, all 45 minutes long, I’ve only just made it partway through season four.  The series follows Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, a mother and daughter duo who live in a small town where it seems to permanently be September, and they both have endless budgets to spend on coffee and takeaways what seems like every day.   The stakes are usually quite low, with most of the drama being about petty squabbles with the townsfolk and Lorelai’s rich, nosey mother. But that’s part of the charm of Gilmore Girls – I can pop this on in the background and scroll on my phone or have it on while I’m cooking.   Plus, now I finally know what my friends are talking about when they say they’re either Team Dean, Team Jess or Team Logan. If you need a sitcom that feels like a warm hug this autumn, this should be on your list. Plus, the theme song is a banger.  Gilmore Girls is available on Netflix and ITVX in the UK, and Netflix in the US. For group watches: The Great British Bake Off  If the turning leaves aren’t enough to get you in the autumnal spirit, then the return of Bake Off will certainly will.   If you’ve somehow missed out on this wholesome show, The Great British Bake Off (or The Great British Baking Show in America) brings together a group of amateur bakers from across the UK to compete in three weekly challenges, which are judged by two veteran professionals, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.   The best part about this competition is that everyone roots for one another. There’s no nastiness or rivalries here. It’s this wholesome atmosphere that makes Bake Off one of the best series for inviting friends and family around to watch together. We’ve often done parties where everyone brings a sweet treat – homemade or otherwise.   Bonus points if you create a bingo, where you can include things such as Hollywood Handshakes, people forgetting to turn the oven on, and a constestant having a dreaded soggy bottom. Bake Off starts on Tuesday 24 September in the UK on Channel 4. US viewers can watch it on Netflix the following Friday or watch it on the same day it airs on Channel 4 by using a VPN.   For feeling focused: Only Murders in the Building  While I crave feel-good TV the most this season, this whodunnit has just the right amount of balance between comedic fun and film noir. Add to that the power trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a light-hearted crime series.   The three leads star as residents of the Arconia building in New York, who are brought together when a suspicious murder happens under their noses. United by their love of true crime, Charles, Oliver and Mabel join forces to create their own podcast to solve the mystery and hold the perpetrator to account.  I’d recommend watching Only Murders when you’re ready to pay attention to fine details. This show often reveals clues (and red herrings) throughout numerous scenes, some of which aren’t called out until much later. If you’re paying attention, then you might be able to guess the killer before they’re revealed – it’s a satisfying feeling if you manage it.   If you’re detective skills aren’t that sharp, then no sweat. You can instead enjoy the incredible celebrity cameos (Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd are the highlights), homages to cinema genres and musical touches throughout. The show is rolling out its fourth season right now, so it’s the perfect time to jump on the hype train.  Only Murders in the Building rolls out new episodes on Tuesdays on Hulu in the US, and Wednesdays on Disney+ in the UK. For topical events: Veep  The upcoming US election will dominate the headlines this autumn, and when candidate Kamala Harris was announced I was one of many to start my first watch-through of 2010’s comedy Veep, which follows the fictional Vice President of the United States, Selina Meyer, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus.  This series is written by Armando Iannucci, the same creator of the UK show The Thick of It. Like its British counterpart, the ridiculous plots of this satire have ended up being much closer to real life than the writer ever anticipated.   Memes of Selina declaring that she would run for President have been circulating online like wildfire, as have clips of her and the team dealing with the many mishaps of the political landscape. When you watch it, you can’t help but wonder if these scenes are similar to what you’d find behind closed doors in DC.   If you find the real-life debates and rallies a bit too much, then Veep is a light-hearted take on the political landscape. But more generally, it’s a great show, with 17 Emmys to prove it.   Veep is available on HBO/Max in the US and on Sky Comedy/Now Entertainment in the UK. For the live TV experience: Strictly Come Dancing  The one thing missing from this list is a Saturday night classic where everyone follows along on social media, clipping the best moments. Fortunately, Strictly fills that void perfectly – and it starts this weekend.   Now in its twentieth year, Strictly Come Dancing invites a bunch of celebrities from all walks of life to train in the arts of Latin and Ballroom. Each week, they perform different dance styles and are marked on their performances by a panel of judges. However, these scores only make up 50% of the vote. The other half comes from the public.   That means that you can get popular celebrities who bring the entertainment factor, rather than the best dancing skills. In the past, we’ve seen iconic moments such as Anne Widecombe being hauled around the dance floor like a sack of potatoes (see above), and Scott Mills dressed as a crab.   Even if you’re not the best dancing fan, you’ll certainly love the incredible costumes, the dubious live covers of songs and awkward jokes from presenters Tess and Claud.   Strictly Come Dancing starts on Saturday 14 September on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. American viewers have the US equivalent, Dancing with the Stars, on ABC. Alternatively, you can watch Strictly from anywhere by using our guide on how to watch BBC iPlayer from abroad.   Related articles The Penguin is the best superhero TV series in nearly a decade These are the 9 best student discounts for streaming Agatha All Along hits Disney+ soon – here’s what time episodes drop...

Ezviz RE5 Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo review

Ezviz RE5 Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo review

At a glanceExpert's Rating ProsCompact base4,000PA suction4 litre dust bag should last for 3 monthsConsNo base drainage or refillMop pad requires manual washingOur VerdictThe Ezviz RE5 is a solid vacuum and mop combo that delivers a lot for its price point. It has good suction and carpet detection, so it’s useful for homes with different types of flooring, and you can create maps for different storeys. You’ll need to fill the water tank yourself, attach the mop pad and wash it after use but the dustbin is automatically emptied, for up to three months of hands-free vacuuming. Robot vacuums have incredible functionality these days but a lot of the best features come with a prohibitive price. Ezviz’s RE5 Plus offers a feature set that includes powerful vacuuming, carpet detection, dustbin auto-emptying and mopping, all for a reasonable price, and in compact form, making it ideal for homes where space is at a premium. If buying green is important to you, you might also want to know that the RE5’s back plate is made from recycled plastic – an amount equal to around 16 plastic bottles. For more recommendations, have a look at our round-up of the best robot vacuums we’ve tested. Design and Build Compact base 4-litre dust bag Robot water tank needs to be manually refilled In the box, you’ll find the robot vacuum cleaner and mop, the auto-empty base, two side brushes, one mop kit, one mop, two dust bags, two high-efficiency filters, one cleaning tool and two quick start guides. The robot vacuum and mop has a white cover and measures 34cm in diameter. It stands 9.5cm high, which is about average and should be low enough to get under most pieces of furniture. On the robot’s front is a bumper and on top sits its LiDAR navigation tower. There are also two buttons: one for power, one for docking. The RE5 Plus has a replaceable side brush. To use the mop, you’ll need to slide out the water tank, fill it and reinsert, and clip the mop panel onto the top. Some high-end models will take care of this automatically, but at this price point automatic refilling and self-cleaning isn’t a likely option. However, it will empty its dust container automatically into a 4-litre bag inside the base. Access to the dust bag inside is via a hinged lid at the top of the base.    The auto-empty base is light, at 3.6kg, and also white, which we like because it tends to be a less imposing presence in a room. It’s compact, standing at only 38cm high, with a 24.5cm footprint at base once the robot has docked, with a 22cm width at the top of the base and an 18cm depth. You’ll need 0.5m of space clearance to three sides of the base. A front view of the EzViz RE5 Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop charging base and robotA screenshot of the EzViz RE5 Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop map-building app screen The next step is to download the Ezviz app, and log in. You can set up a new profile or use your Google or Facebook account. To pair the device, you can scan the QR code on top of the robot, which makes the process quick and easy. Then it’s just a matter of putting in your Wi-Fi password. Mapping is a simple process, and the RE5 Plus splits rooms accurately. You can also create up to five floor maps, label them accordingly, and edit the topography: dividing or merging space, creating no-go areas and drawing invisible walls.    Ezviz says the total charge time is about five hours, and you should get four hours of quiet mode cleaning from a full battery, and three hours of original mode cleaning. Features and Vacuum Performance Four suction modes Customisable room clean Day and time scheduling Carpet detection According to Ezviz, the RE5 has 4,000Pa suction, which is good for a robot vacuum at this price point. You can vacuum by room, by the whole floor, or by area. There are four modes of suction: quiet, original, powerful and super power. If you’re doing a full floor clean or an area clean you can programme the robot to go over the area twice. You can customise the clean so that the robot applies different speeds to different rooms, and you can schedule a clean by day, time and scope. The app tracks the clean in real-time, and on the original mode, you get just over a metre2 clean in one minute – indeed, Ezviz suggests you can clean over 300m2 on a single charge. We found the vacuuming on the original suction level to be good, and the robot is not loud whatsoever in this mode. The vacuuming on original left a distinct striped effect on the carpet and as soon as the robot passed from a hard floor onto a carpeted floor, it automatically enabled carpet boost. You will also get a push notification when the cleaning is complete. The auto-emptying into the charging base at 28,000Pa is loud, but barely lasts for four seconds. Ezviz states you can go up to 90 days without having to change the dust bag.    We gave the robot a flour test.  It took three cleans on the original mode to remove the flour entirely, and the first clean did sweep the flour across a wider area, but this is to be expected with a side brush. We found the area mode to be fairly accurate. You also get cleaning logs and can set a “do not disturb” time. And there’s a remote control setting in the app that enables you to control the robot’s direction and movement directly. Plus, you can set up the robot to act on Alexa or Google voice commands.   A close up of the start of the EzViz RE5 Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop flour testA close up of the EzViz RE5 Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop flour test first passA close up of the EzViz RE5 Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop flour test second passA close up of the EzViz RE5 Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop flour test third passA close up of the EzViz RE5 Plus Robot Vacuum and Mop flour test fourth pass Mopping 300ml clean water tank Voice prompt for mop mode Good coverage on max volume To mop, take out the water tank, remove the rubber cap to the tank, fill it with water, reinsert the tank and put the mop plate on the bottom of the robot vacuum. The robot vacuum will automatically give you a voice prompt to tell you it recognises the switch to mopping function. You don’t seem to be able to mop without vacuuming. We did our mopping test on maximum. The robot mopped the floor consistently and quietly, and the maximum water mode left the floor with a visible sheen that dried quickly. After the robot has finished mopping, you really need to wash the mop pad by hand. It’s not a big ask, and for the price point of the RE5, we think it’s an acceptable compromise. Price and Availability The RE5 Plus is a well-priced robot vacuum for its power and feature set. It had a launch price of £299.99, but you can buy it at the time of writing from Amazon for £229.99. At this lowered price, it’s a very good deal. If this isn’t the right robot vacuum for you, have a look at our round-up of the best robot vacuums we’ve tested for more options. Should you buy the Ezviz RE5 Plus? We like the RE5 Plus a lot. It’s a reasonably priced robot vacuum and mop that does what it claims to do. Vacuuming is effective and hands-free. Yes, you’ll have to put a little work into mopping, but that’s decent compromise for its price. And the compact size of the charging station makes it a viable choice for smaller homes and apartments...

The Penguin hits TV screens next week – here’s what you need to know

The Penguin hits TV screens next week – here’s what you need to know

The Penguin was mainly seen as comic relief in The Batman. But in his spin-off series, he’ll delve further into the complex, criminal underworld. Bruce Wayne’s fight with the Riddler turned Gotham to ruin. On the remains of the old order, new leaders are coming to power, and fresh alliances are being born. Oswald Cobb, known as The Penguin, has appeared multiple times in films and series about Batman. So far, the most famous interpretation of this character has belonged to Danny DeVito in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns. However, in Matt Reeves’ movie from 2022, Colin Farrell took on the role, and he was almost unrecognisable under a thick layer of makeup. The new version of the Penguin spoke so strongly to audiences that HBO decided to create a series covering the gangster’s march for power in Gotham City. We’ve rounded up all the essential information about this new production from the DC universe. You can also check out our official review after watching all eight episodes of the upcoming drama. The Penguin - Oswald CobblebotHBO The Penguin - Oswald CobblebotHBO HBO When does The Penguin release? The show will debut in the US on HBO and Max on Thursday 19 September 2024. It will run for eight episodes. Though episodes air in the UK at the same time, viewers will get it the day after, Friday 20 September 2024, due to the time differences. Initially, The Penguin was supposed to hit Max in the spring of 2024, but the premiere was pushed back. Where to watch The Penguin in the UK UK-based fans of DC can catch The Penguin on Sky TV and streaming service Now. Every episode will air weekly at the same time as in the States and hit streaming shortly after its TV premiere. The Penguin - Clancy Brown The Penguin - Clancy BrownHBO The Penguin - Clancy BrownHBO HBO What is the plot of The Penguin? The series picks up right after the finale of The Batman movie. The clash with the Riddler led Gotham City to ruin, with large areas of the city ending up underwater. Chaos also reigns in the criminal underworld, which, after the death of the mafia boss Carmine Falcone, is left without leadership. In the new HBO series, Penguin tries to take over power in the world of criminals – the creators describe the project as a Scarface-like story. One of the most important characters in the series is Sofia, the daughter of the late Carmine Falcone. In comic books, she made her first appearance in 1997’s Batman: The Long Halloween. As a serial killer named the Hangman, she spent a year eliminating members of the Gotham City Police Department. She was, however, released from prison early at her father’s request. The Penguin seems to use at least parts of Sofia’s comic book arc. In the latest trailer for the series, she appears as a power-hungry successor of Carmine, who will cause Oswald a lot of trouble. The Penguin - Sofia Falcone The Penguin - Sofia FalconeHBO The Penguin - Sofia FalconeHBO HBO Another important character in the series is Victor Aguilar. He is Penguin’s young driver and protégé, who accompanies him during his fight for power. As Sarah Aubrey, head of originals at Max, said in an interview for Variety: The goal of this is to show what Oz’s life is like and that’s very much in the streets of Gotham, trying to get up and over as only the Penguin can. As a hustler and a strategist with his own ambitions. It is a great example of having the time over eight episodes to tell a longer-arc character story with a lot of delicious twists and turns and new characters. It’s very much going to be about Gotham at that street level because he’s not flying around like Batman does. We are all embracing that as a very specific experience for audiences to have. Even more interesting is that The Penguin will serve as an introduction to The Batman: Part Two. It seems that the series is planned to be a must-see for all fans of the rebooted Dark Knight franchise. Is there a trailer for The Penguin? The first teaser shows a slice of the Penguin’s world: The latest teaser for the show reveals a bloody fight for power between Gotham’s mobsters: The official trailer, presented at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, reveals Oswald’s foes and allies: You can also watch more about the creation of the Penguin here: Who’s starring in The Penguin? The following actors are confirmed to star in The Penguin: Colin Farrell – Oswald “Oz” Cobb / The Penguin Cristin Milioti – Sofia Falcone, the daughter of Carmine Falcone Michael Kelly – Johnny Vitti, the underboss of the Falcone crime family Clancy Brown – Salvatore Maroni, a mob boss Michael Zegen – Alberto Falcone, Carmine’s son and Sofia’s brother Rhenzy Feliz – Victor Aguilar Deirdre O’Connell – Francis Cobb Shohreh Aghdashloo – Nadia Maroni James Madio – Milos Grapa Scott Cohen – Luca Falcone Carmen Ejogo – Eve Karlo Theo Rossi – Dr. Julian Rush Fans of the DC universe have been wondering if Robert Pattinson will appear in the series as Batman. However, that has since been disputed by Matt Reeves himself. The series is created by Lauren LeFranc. Matt Reeves and Colin Farrell serve as the executive producers, among others. Will there be a season 2 of The Penguin? HBO has not announced another season of The Penguin. The first season will lead directly into The Batman: Part Two, so it’ll likely depend on the events of that film, and if the cast and crew are willing to come back. For Colin Farrell, the ordeal of going through all the make-up was a lot for the series, according to GamesRadar. We may learn more after The Penguin debuts on TV and streaming services. The Penguin is the best superhero TV series in nearly a decade

The Penguin is the best superhero TV series in nearly a decade

Spin-off TV series of superhero movies raise eyebrows nowadays, as a decline in quality versus the big screen is often a given. Fortunately, there’s no need for any scepticism when it comes to The Penguin, which takes the gritty darkness from Matt Reeves’s The Batman and dials it up to eleven.   Oswald Cobb (not Cobblepot, as per the source material) mainly served as comic relief in the original movie and was one of the participants in the iconic Batmobile chase scene. His show retains those hilarious moments but also delves into his thirst for power in Gotham, and the shocking lengths he’ll go to achieve his desires.   The series is set in the aftermath of The Riddler’s actions, which are felt throughout the city. Predictably, the poorest neighbourhoods are reaping the worst consequences. Crime is catapulted to an all-time high, with many blaming those at the top for their suffering. It’s this resentment that the Penguin latches onto, using it to leverage his climb to the top.   Oswald Cobb in The PenguinMacall Polay/HBO Oswald Cobb in The PenguinMacall Polay/HBO Macall Polay/HBO Colin Farrell’s performance as Oswald is a masterclass, combining delightful moments with the most despicable. Throughout the show, he commits acts that are truly horrendous… but you’ll find yourself laughing just seconds later thanks to his quick wit.   This strange charm, and his enthusiasm for the working class, lets him get away with both figurative and literal murder. He’s a complete loose cannon, and you never know how he might react to insults or bad news – sometimes laughing it off, other times pulling out his gun. Audiences will certainly be split on when (or perhaps even if) they stop rooting for Oz, in a similar way to the fan response to Walter White during Breaking Bad.  Colin Farrell’s performance as Oswald is a masterclass There are chinks in his mob boss persona, particularly in the form of his mother, Francis Cobb, played by Deirdre O’Connell. Like Farrell, the actress portrays extremely erratic behaviour but also plays a heartbreakingly realistic depiction of ageing illnesses – a factor that makes her son fiercely protective and desperate to do right by her.   Oz’s humanity is also tested by Victor Aguilar, played by Rhenzy Feliz. His backstory is a twisted echo of the origins of Batman’s sidekick, Jason Todd’s Robin, when he’s caught by the mobster attempting to steal hubcaps – catapulting his life into the underbelly of crime.   He leans on the Penguin as a mentor and slowly becomes poisoned by his corruption across the eight-episode arc. This role will almost certainly open doors for the 26-year-old actor from the Bronx.   Victor Aguilar in The Penguin Victor Aguilar in The PenguinMacall Polay/HBO Victor Aguilar in The PenguinMacall Polay/HBO Macall Polay/HBO But the performer who truly goes toe-to-toe with Farrell is Cristin Milioti, the actress playing Sofia Falcone. She is the daughter of Carmine, the former head of a powerful crime family who met his end at the barrel of a gun in The Batman.   Sofia’s chilling presence is felt every time she enters the room, commanding attention without the need for a booming voice to announce her presence – her large, spooky eyes can convey an incredible amount of emotion, while her attention to detail and the things left unsaid make her a formidable adversary in The Penguin.   As in the comics, she is also known as the Hangman, although this series puts a complex and nuanced twist on the origins of that title, drawing heavily on the horror genre to delve into her backstory. Milioti plays with accents in her role, showing how Sofia’s New York-Italian twang is downplayed when she’s networking with the public.  She, and the many other rivals against Oz, consistently cause problems. As in Netflix’s Ozark, once one issue is solved, four more are created in the process. No episode feels like a drag, with eight being the perfect amount to tell the tale.   Sofia Falcone in The Penguin Sofia Falcone in The PenguinMacall Polay/HBO Sofia Falcone in The PenguinMacall Polay/HBO Macall Polay/HBO At no point were the special effects a downgrade from the blockbuster. HBO pulled out all the stops, with a raft of explosions, gun fights and more. That’s not even mentioning the incredible prosthetics on Colin Farrell, which look so realistic that I often forgot the Irish actor underneath.   Props must be given to Mike Marino, Mike Fontaine and the rest of the make-up team for their groundbreaking work – and applause to Farrell for seemingly not letting the costume hinder his movements or actions.   As in Netflix’s Ozark, once one issue is solved, four more are created in the process Many criticisms of The Batman came from the film sticking to a PG-13/15 rating, maximising its audience potential. If you were one of those fans hoping for more swearing and violence, then rest assured that the itch will be scratched with this new series – at times I watched from behind a pillow.   The Penguin also doesn’t rely on huge cameos to cause a ruckus online. However, narratively I was left questioning why Bruce Wayne was not poking his nose into the many bloody events that were heavily publicised in Gotham – but perhaps that’s a question that will be answered in the Batman sequel.   The Penguin stands up with the likes of Netflix’s Daredevil when it comes to quality, and its compelling story has guaranteed that I’ll be seated for the return of Battinson.   The Penguin releases on HBO and Max in the United States on Thursday 19 September 2024, and on Sky and Now in the United Kingdom on Friday 20 September 2024. New episodes will drop weekly.   Related articles I’m an Entertainment Editor – these are the 5 TV shows getting me through autumn Here are all the cameos in Only Murders in the Building season 4...

How to watch the Premier League live this weekend

How to watch the Premier League live this weekend

After a bumper summer of sport, the Premier League is back. Champions Man City are on the hunt for an incredible fourth title in a row and seventh triumph in the last eight seasons. But Arsenal ran them very close last season and are likely to do so again, while Arne Slot’s new-look Liverpool and Chelsea under new boss Enzo Maresca can’t be ruled out. Elsewhere, Tottenham and Man Utd will want to build on some promising signs last season, and can Aston Villa keep up their domestic form while juggling Champions League duties? At the other end, how will the three promoted teams – Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton – fare in the top division? They’ll hope to avoid a repeat of last season, which saw all the promoted sides immediately relegated back to the Championship. The fourth round of the 2023-24 Premier League takes place this weekend, and there are plenty of games worth watching. Here’s how to do just that, whether you’re based in the UK, US or elsewhere. What Premier League games are on TV this week? All 10 matches are being shown live in the US, but you can only watch four in the UK. Sat 14 Sept Southampton vs Man Utd – KO 12.30pm BST/7.30am EDT/4.30am PDT – TNT Sports (UK), USA Network (US) Crystal Palace vs Leicester – KO 3pm BST/10am EDT/7am PDT – USA Network (US) Brighton vs Ipswich – KO 3pm BST/10am EDT/7am PDT – Peacock (US) Fulham vs West Ham – KO 3pm BST/10am EDT/7am PDT – Peacock (US) Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest – KO 3pm BST/10am EDT/7am PDT – Peacock (US) Man City vs Brentford – KO 3pm BST/10am EDT/7am PDT – Peacock (US) Aston Villa vs Everton – KO 5.30pm BST/12.30pm EDT/9.30am PDT – Sky Sports (UK), NBC/Peacock (US) Bournemouth vs Chelsea – KO 8pm BST/3pm EDT/12pm PDT – Sky Sports (UK), Peacock (US) Sun 15 Sept Tottenham vs Arsenal – KO 2pm BST/9am EDT/6am PDT – Sky Sports (UK), USA Network (US) Wolves vs Newcastle – KO 4.30pm BST/11.30am EDT/8.30am PDT – Sky Sports (UK), USA Network (US) How to watch the Premier League in the UK In the UK, only 200 of the 380 games are shown live. Sky Sports has the majority of these, but there are also some on TNT Sports (formerly BT Sport) and two full rounds of fixtures on Amazon Prime Video. Sky Sports You have several options when it comes to Sky Sports. The first is to get a TV package, which starts at £43 per month for 24 months, but includes Sky TV, Netflix and UHD. If you don’t mind paying a monthly subscription for your TV, Sky Glass is also worth considering. You can currently get a 43-inch TV (48-month contract) with Sky Sports, Sky Entertainment and Netflix (Standard with Ads) on an 18-month contract for £62 per month with £10 upfront. Alternatively, you can add the functionality to your existing TV via Sky Stream. It starts at £46 per month for an 18-month plan including Sky Entertainment, Netflix and Sky Sports. All of the above include access on your phone, tablet and/or laptop via Sky Go. That doesn’t apply to Sky’s Now streaming service, but it’s a more affordable option. A Now Sports membership (including all 11 Sky Sports channels) costs £34.99 per month at full price, but it’s currently down to £26 per month for the first six months. You may also want to add Now Boost, which adds 1080p video (rather than the usual 720p), removes ads and lets you stream on up to two devices at the same time (instead of the usual one). After a one-month free trial, it costs £6 per month extra. Alternatively Now Ultra Boost, upgrades this to 4K and three devices simultaneously, though it costs £9 per month. TNT Sports BT Sport was rebranded as TNT Sports ahead of the 2023-24 season, but not much changed in terms of the plans available. At full price, the cheapest package costs £20 per month on a monthly rolling contract, though you’re limited to the discovery+ app. However it also includes Eurosport 1 & 2 and the discovery+ Premium streaming service. But if you’d rather stream all the action and don’t want a recordable TV box, it makes more sense to simply add TNT Sports to discovery+. That costs an extra £20 per month for existing BT Broadband customers, but you’ll need to get the monthly pass for £30.99 per month otherwise. Amazon Prime Video To access Prime Video’s live games, you’ll simply need to be subscribed to Amazon Prime in some capacity. After a 30-day free trial, it costs £8.99 per month or £95 per year. But there are plenty of other benefits, including free next-day delivery on many items, unlimited photo storage and access to some music and games. How to watch the Premier League in the US In the US, NBC has the exclusive English-language rights to the Champions League. All 380 matches are broadcast live, across the main NBC channels, NBC-owned USA Network and its streaming service Peacock. Peacock has most of the games, and it’s also the most affordable. It starts $7.99 per month/$79.99 per year for ‘Premium’, or $13.99 per month/$139.99 to step up to the ad-free ‘Premium Plus’. You can sign up for both on the Peacock website. For NBC itself and USA Network, things are a little more complicated if you don’t want to pay for cable. The most hassle-free way is to sign up for a live TV streaming services such as YouTube TV ($72.99 per month), Sling TV (requires $45 per month Sling Blue) or Hulu+ Live TV ($76.99 per month). None of these are cheap, but they offer plenty of other benefits. How to watch the Premier League outside the UK and US Before trying to watch UK or US TV from abroad, it’s worth checking which broadcaster has the rights to the Premier League where you’re based. See the full list of international broadcasters on the Premier League website. But if you’re just visiting another country, it makes sense to access your UK or US subscription, which requires a VPN. We’re using NordVPN for the purposes of this tutorial, but there are plenty of great alternatives in our best VPN chart. 1. Download the relevant VPN app Anyron Copeman / Foundry Head to the download page for the VPN you’d like to install and click ‘Download App’. Then, select any US or UK server and connect to it. Depending on the service you’re using, it might look quite different to the above. But this should be relatively easy to find. 3. The 2024 F1 season is heating up, with both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ titles set to go down to the wire. Max Verstappen’s previously comfortable lead in the race to be crowned world champion is now down to just 62 points, with Norris hoping to close the gap further in Baku. However, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc sprung a surprise last time out in Monza, while Mercedes will hope to return to form they showed before the summer break. Meanwhile, less than 40 points separate Red Bull at the top of the team standings from Ferrari in third. And with McLaren just eight points off first, we could have a new leader by the end of this weekend in Baku. Three more sprint races will be happening in the 2024 season, with the next one taking place in Austin on 19 October. Further sprints are scheduled for Sao Paulo (2 November) and Qatar (30 November). How to watch every F1 race for free in the UK Sky showing every race live Extended qualifying, plus highlights on Channel 4 shown a few hours after the race Channel 4 only has British GP live F1 is fast becoming a pay-to-watch sport. But there are ways to watch without paying, especially if you’re happy to watch highlights later in the day. Sky still has the exclusive rights to show live races in the UK (as well as Italy and Germany), meaning the only coverage on free-to-air TV in the UK will be available on Channel 4. The British Grand Prix is the only race of the season that’s broadcast live on Channel 4 each season. Channel 4’s streaming service – known simply as ‘Channel 4’ – allows you to watch live from wherever you are. , but it can take a while for the highlights to appear there if you don’t catch them as they’re being broadcast. The highlights show usually lasts more than two hours and is allowed to cover 70% of the action. You can watch Channel 4 on your TV, of course, but you can also watch using the All 4 app on your phone or tablet (but not live), or in a web browser via the website. See the full range of options on the Channel 4 website. The other way to watch for free – especially if you want to watch races live – is to use a VPN and stream them from broadcasters in other countries which show races on free-to-air channels (but not necessarily with English commentary).  Remember, if you watch any live TV in the UK, you’ll need a TV Licence. This currently costs £159 per year. How to watch F1 races on Sky Sports If you’re happy to pay a subscription fee so you can watch entire races live, then Sky is the only official option in the UK. Races are now broadcast in 4K HDR, though you’ll need a Sky Glass TV, or a Sky Q box that’s capable of sending the 4K HDR signal to your compatible TV. That means one which supports the HLG type of HDR, because that’s what Sky uses. You’ll also need the appropriate Ultra HD add-on for your Sky TV package.  Since March 2023, the relevant channel is known as ‘Sky Sports F1 UHD’, reflecting the fact it now supports 4K HDR as standard. Unfortunately, there’s no way to only get Sky Sports F1 – you’ll have to combine it with all the other Sky Sports channels. This currently costs £22 extra per month on top of an existing Sky Entertainment and Netflix plan – the cheapest combined plan is currently £46 per month on an initial 18-month contract. If you don’t want to pay for Sky TV (maybe because you only want F1) then there is an alternative: you can subscribe via Sky’s streaming service, Now (formerly Now TV). That’s available on your phone, tablet, games consoles, via a web browser and also via an Amazon Fire TV Stick, Chromecast, Roku device and others. It usually costs £34.99 per month for the Sky Sports Pass, but an offer at the time of writing reduces the price to £26 for the first six months. That includes a month of free Now Boost which adds 1080p video (instead of 720p), allows simultaneous streaming on up to 3 devices (rather than just one) and removes ads. After that, it costs £6 extra per month. For the first time in 2024, a Now Sports subscription includes ‘Bonus Stream’ features, which were previously exclusive to Sky TV customers: Go onboard with any driver Hear audio from onboard cameras Hear full team radio View real-time timing screen View live track map Access the Sky Sports ‘Battle Channel’ BT broadband customers can also get Sky Sports channels as part of a Now add-on for their EE TV (formerly BT TV) package. F1 owners Liberty Media operate an online streaming service known as F1 TV Pro, but it isn’t available in the UK due to Sky’s exclusive. However, there is a workaround, as we’ll explain below. How to watch F1 races on ESPN In the US, ESPN is the only official F1 broadcaster. To access it, you’ll need to pay for a subscription. While it is available via cable TV, it’s much easier to pay for it on its own. Paying $10.99 for a month’s access makes most sense, but $109.99 gets you the channel for a full year. ESPN+ is also the place to watch many American football, hockey, golf and basketball matches, plus several top European football (soccer) leagues. You can sign up now via the ESPN website. How to watch F1 races on F1 TV Pro In case you didn’t know, F1 TV Pro is the official streaming service of Formula 1, but you can’t subscribe in the UK because of Sky’s exclusive deal for live races. F1 TV Pro is only available in the likes of the Netherlands, Canada and the US. It costs $84.99 per year or $10.99 per month in the US, and you can access any onboard camera or team radio whenever you’d like. That extends to helmet cameras, which broadcast live footage from 6-8 drivers each race weekend. Sky have access to these, but you can only choose which to watch via F1 TV Pro. But in the UK, the exclusive deal with Sky means you can only officially get a live timing service for £19.99 per year or £2.29 per month. Liberty Media, which runs F1, has previously said that using a VPN to access it will result in your subscription being terminated with no refund. However, we know from first-hand experience that you can successfully watch the service in the UK via Surfshark. Get surfshark After you sign up, simply install the Surfshark app on the device you’d like to use for F1 TV Pro, then connect to any server based in the US. Surfshark VPN connected to US server on a laptop Surfshark VPN connected to US server on a laptopDominik Tomaszewski / Foundry Surfshark VPN connected to US server on a laptopDominik Tomaszewski / Foundry Dominik Tomaszewski / Foundry Once connected, head to the Formula 1 website on a browser where you have Apple Pay or Google Pay details saved (usually Safari or Chrome) and click ‘Subscribe Now’ under F1 TV Pro. Create an account if you haven’t already, then click the ‘name on card’ field and let Apple or Google Pay autofill all the details for you. Click the box to agree to all the terms and conditions, then click ‘Complete Order’ to finish. However, despite this method working in the past, there’s no guarantee it will now. The risk of losing your subscription with no refund will always be there, so only go ahead with this if you’re willing to accept the consequences. How to watch F1 online with a VPN If you’re not in the same country as the TV broadcaster, you won’t be able to watch F1 online without a VPN. For example, you can’t watch using the Sky Go or Now apps from outside the UK, or access the Channel 4 catch-up service. However, there is another way – using a virtual private network, or VPN. A VPN makes it appear that you’re located in the same country as the broadcaster when you connect to a server in the appropriate country. We’re using NordVPN for the purposes of this tutorial, but there are plenty of great alternatives in our best VPN round-up. 1. Download the relevant VPN app NordVPN download pageAnyron Copeman / Foundry Head to the download page for the VPN you’d like to install and click ‘Download App’. The likes of NordVPN are available on a range of devices. 2. Connect to a US or UK server NordVPN Sam Singleton Open the app and sign in to your account if necessary. Then, select any US or UK server and connect to it. Depending on the service you’re using, it might look quite different to the above. But this should be relatively easy to find. 3. Start watching as usual Sky Sports F1 watch pageAnyron Copeman / Foundry Head to the website or app you’d usually use to start watching, then sign in if you haven’t already. You should now be able to stream content as normal and without any restrictions. Is there a way to watch F1 races live for free? Officially, no. But there is a way. In 2024, F1 will be shown on free-to-air channels ServusTV and ORF in Austria, plus Belgian channel RTBF. You’ll need a VPN (see above) to watch these channels outside of those countries, so connect to the appropriate country – Austria or Belgium – and then head to their respective websites and figure out how to navigate to the right channel and you’ll be ale to watch the live stream. Obviously, unless you speak the relevant languages, the commentary won’t be at all useful, but the good news is that you can listen to English commentary by tuning into BBC Radio 5 Live. You don’t need an actual radio of course: you can also listen via the BBC Sounds app or on the BBC website – a free account is all that’s required. We’ve also been informed by a Tech Advisor reader that F1 is shown free to air on an Arabic satellite channels MBC Action and MBC Persia service. They’re available on a number of satellites at varying frequencies, but require a very good satellite installation and setup to pick up the signals.  Full F1 calendar 2024 RoundRace dateGPCircuit12 MarchBahrainBahrain International Circuit29 MarchSaudi ArabiaJeddah Corniche Circuit324 MarchAustraliaMelbourne Grand Prix Circuit47 AprilJapanSuzuka Circuit521 AprilChinaShanghai International Circuit65 MayMiamiMiami International Autodrome719 MayEmilia RomagnaAutodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari8 26 MayMonacoCircuit de Monaco99 JuneCanadaCircuit Gilles Villeneuve10 23 JuneSpainCircuit de Barcelona-Catalunya1130 JuneAustriaRed Bull Ring127 JulyGreat BritainSilverstone Circuit1321 JulyHungaryHungaroring1428 JulyBelgiumSpa-Francorchamps1525 AugustNetherlandsCircuit Zandvoort161 SeptemberItalyAutodromo Nazionale Monza1715 SeptemberAzerbaijanBaku City Circuit1822 SeptemberSingaporeMarina Bay Street Circuit1920 OctoberUnited StatesCircuit of the Americas2027 OctoberMexicoAutódromo Hermanos Rodriguez213 NovemberBrazilAutódromo José Carlos Pace2224 NovemberLas VegasLas Vegas Street Circuit231 DecemberQatarLosail Circuit248 DecemberAbu DhabiYas Marina Circuit Sprint races in 2024 The format will be run at six races this season: Round 5 – China Round 6 – Miami Round 11 – Austria Round 19 – United States Round 21 – Brazil Round 23 – Qatar There’s been a slight change to the format of Sprint weekends for 2024. After one free practice session, the Sprint Shootout will take place on a Friday, determining the order for Saturday’s Sprint. That will take place first on a Saturday, before qualifying for the main race follows. During Sprint weekends, the race itself will still take place on a Sunday. The actual Sprint sessions are unchanged. The Sprint Shootout delivers a quick-fire version of the usual three-session qualifying. The slowest five cars will be eliminated from Q1 (12 minutes) and Q2 (10 minutes), but the medium tire will be mandatory. In the eight-minute Q3 session, everyone must be on the soft tyre. Once this grid is determined, the sprint race will take place over 100km. Points will be awarded to the top eight finishers, from 8 for the winner to one point for P8. Agatha All Along hits Disney+ soon – here’s what time episodes drop

Agatha All Along hits Disney+ soon – here’s what time episodes drop

Following her devilish antics in WandaVision, Agatha Harkness will return to the Marvel universe. The latest trailer shows her uniting her coven, and taking a perilous trip down the Witches’ Road. The eccentric Agatha first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the WandaVision series as a nosy neighbour named Agnes. However, the seemingly harmless woman turned out to be a powerful witch looking to take on Wanda Maximoff’s unique powers. Viewers came to love this sassy, hilarious and ruthless witch, so it’s no wonder that Marvel gave Agatha her own series. The show will make up part of phase five of the MCU, and here’s all we know about it. Agatha All Along release date The series about the clever witch will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday 18 September 2024, with two episodes. The show, described as a miniseries, will run for 9 episodes. Agatha All Along was initially scheduled to debut in the winter of 2023, but the production was pushed back due to the Hollywood industry strikes. It was Agatha All Along 🔮Don’t miss the two-episode premiere of #AgathaAllAlong, September 18 on @DisneyPlus. pic.twitter.com/DmJTDt73YD— WandaVision (@wandavision) May 14, 2024 What time do new episodes of Agatha All Along release? The first two episodes of Agatha All Along will debut on Wednesday 18 September 2024 at 9pm ET/6pm PT. That means that UK viewers won’t get the new episodes until the day after, Thursday 19 September, at 2am BST. New episodes will roll out each week at this time, which was introduced for Loki season 2. Agatha Harkness series official title  Initially, the show was titled Agatha: House of Harkness, but was renamed Coven of Chaos in July 2022, and for Darkhold Diaries in September 2023. Those who thought that was the last change were mistaken. On 13 May 2024, Marvel fans were surprised by Agatha: The Lying Witch with the Great Wardrobe title, which was revealed on social media. However, the tweet was quickly deleted. Finally, the ultimate title was revealed on 14 May at Disney’s Upfront presentation. Kathryn Hahn, who portrays the witch, announced the show is called Agatha All Along – a clear reference to a beloved song from the WandaVision show. The constant title changes seemed part of Disney’s marketing strategy to fuel fans’ interest in the series. Who is Agatha Harkness? Agatha first appeared in 1970’s Fantastic Four #94 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. She was depicted as an elderly nanny hired by Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman to care for their son, Franklin. As it turned out, she was a witch who remembered the sinking of Atlantis and was one of the defendants in the 17th-century trial in Salem. After many adventures with the Fantastic Four and Scarlet Witch, Agatha was finally burned at the stake. However, she returned to life, and eventually she regained her youth. In the comics, Agatha was Wanda’s mentor who taught her how to use and control magic powers. Eventually, she discovered that the Maximoff children were merely manifestations of the soul of Mephisto – one of Marvel’s villains – and erased Wanda’s memory of them, protecting her from the trauma. However, when Scarlett Witch discovered the truth, she killed Agatha in cold blood. Agatha All Along - AgathaMarvel Studios Agatha All Along - AgathaMarvel Studios Marvel Studios Agatha Harkness was the most powerful witch on the Earth. Among other abilities, she could levitate, teleport, use telekinesis, manipulate the four elements, cast illusions and read people’s minds. She also had a familiar, cat named Ebony, possessing mystical powers. Agatha All Along plot Spoilers for WandaVision below. In WandaVision we saw a much grimmer version of Agatha. Rather than Wanda’s mentor, she was her enemy and power-seeking sinister witch – though she was still funny and charismatic. At the end of the series, she was trapped by Wanda in the persona of Agnes and condemned to live in an ordinary world. In Agatha All Along, filmmakers depict Agatha’s fate after the events of WandaVision. Thanks to Rio Vidal, her old friend, she finds a way to break Maximoff’s hex. However, she realises she’s powerless. To reclaim her abilities, she gathers the coven of witches and sets on a path filled with dark magic, dangerous creatures and enemies. As grim as it may sound, the series will have a comedic twist – creators promised that the show will feature musical numbers similar to the viral ‘Agatha All Along’ from WandaVision. We’ve already heard one of these at D23 – Down the Witches’ Road. The description of the series’ episode 1 reads: In the first episode we see Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) finally break out of a spell she has been trapped in. She can’t wait to go back to her old murderous ways only to find that she is powerless. The only way forward for her is to embark on a perilous quest to get her powers back with the help of an unlikely friend or two. Agatha All Along - Aubrey Plaza Agatha All Along - Aubrey PlazaMarvel Studios Agatha All Along - Aubrey PlazaMarvel Studios Marvel Studios Showrunner Jac Schaeffer told Entertainment Weekly that the show takes inspiration from other witches in pop culture, including Elphaba and Glinda from Wicked. The article also revealed that the Witches’ Road involves a series of trials. If those who walk it fail, they perish. If they succeed, then they get their deepest desires – it’s a spooky twist on the Yellow Brick Road. These trials place the witches in intriguing settings, including one where they’re dressed as a Fleetwood Mac-style band, and another inspired by an 80s summer camp. In addition, a lot of the special effects in the show are practical, as explained in this behind-the-scenes featurette: Agatha All Along cast In the upcoming series, Kathryn Hahn will reprise her role as Agatha Harkness. Also returning to their roles will be: Emma Caulfield Ford – Sarah Proctor/Dottie Jones David Lengel – Harold Proctor/Phil Jones, Sarah’s husband Debra Jo Rupp – Sharon Davis/Mrs. Hart David Payton – John Collins/Herb Asif Ali – Abilash Tandon/Norm Kate Forbes – Evanora Harkness, Agatha’s mother Brian Brightman – the Eastview, New Jersey sheriff As far as we know, Elizabeth Olsen won’t appear in the series. The cast also includes: Aubrey Plaza – Rio Vidal, a witch Patti LuPone – Lilia Calderu, a 450-year-old Sicilian witch Sasheer Zamata – Jennifer Kale, a sorceress Joe Locke – Teen Miles Gutierrez-Riley – Hulkling, Billy’s boyfriend Emma Caulfield Debra Jo Rupp Ali Ahn Maria Dizzia Okwui Okpokwasili Agatha All Along trailer The first teaser for the show mocks dark crime series and shows Agatha in the new role: The second trailer shows us more about the coven: While not an official trailer, this live performance of The Ballad of the Witches’ Road is fun to watch: There’s also this clip, revealing a character but bleeping out his name. He’s currently suspected to be either Billy Maximoff or Billy Kaplan: Related articles Deadpool & Wolverine Release Date, Cast, Plot and Trailer Daredevil: Born Again release date, plot, cast and news...
